Russell Bowman Art Advisory is pleased to announce an exhibition of works by recently discovered Chicago street photographer Vivian Maier (1926 - 2009).  Both vintage and contemporary prints will be available for sale, including lifetime prints of images from the artist's stay in New York from 1951-1955 and recent editioned prints depicting scenes from Chicago and others cities, 1959-1971.  Chicago master gelatin silver printer, Ron Gordon, has printed the contemporary series from the artist's negatives, showcasing Maier's various subjects including street culture, architectural views, children, the elderly, the indigent and striking self-portraits.

Obscure until her work's recent discovery in abandoned storage lockers, Vivian Maier worked as a nanny in Chicago from the mid 1950s.  Born in New York and spending part of her youth in France, Maier traveled widely in the United States, Canada, Europe, South America, Africa and Southeast Asia. She has been the subject of commercial gallery exhibitions in Germany and Norway and media coverage from CBS, BBC, The New York Times, Time Magazine and many others. Her first American exhibition, Vivian Maier, Street Photographer, was recently presented at the Chicago Cultural Center.

The photographs in this exhibition are from the Jeffrey Goldstein collection.
